Bay Sunset

This painting was inspired by a photograph my parents took during the year-long sailing trip they embarked on before I was born.

A lone boat rides the water in silhouette, balanced beneath the fire of a setting sun, its reflection breaking across the restless waves.

Though my original painting sold years ago in a little coffee shop, it lives on as part of my story. This painting has a special place in my heart because it connects me to my dad, who has since passed away. I often feel the same restless pull he must have felt to sail away, to seek something just beyond the horizon. It holds the strange mix of calm and adventure, of belonging and farewell. It feels like a beautiful goodbye.
