Beachcomber Earrings (Baja, 2020)

Beachcomber Earrings (Baja 2020)

Each pair of earrings in this collection began as a quiet moment on a beach. I walk slowly, eyes scanning the sand for pieces that catch the light just right. I look for small shells, coral, or bits of sea glass shaped by the tides. Finding two that match feels like a tiny miracle, a meditation in patience and presence.

The first earrings I’m sharing are from Los Barriles, Baja Mexico Sur, where my daughter, stepmom, grandmother, and I spent six weeks during the winter of 2020. We rented a house so we could stay outdoors, together, and safe during those strange months of early COVID. We spent our days swimming, collecting treasures, cooking together and playing board games in the evenings. We found connection in a time it was hard to come by.

Later, back home, I mounted the paired shells onto simple studs, a way to hold those moments close. These earrings aren’t just accessories; they’re souvenirs of a lived experience, reminders that beauty is found by slowing down and paying attention even in the hardest times.

Over the years I have collected treasures on my travels, and created earrings from beaches all over the world. Each pair carries the memory of a specific beach, a specific time, and a specific version of myself who was present there. I look forward to sharing more of these stories with you.
